Meet Valentina!

I was made aware of Valentina's clubfoot at her 20 week ultrasound. The ultrasound tech said everything was normal and I wasn't expecting anything to do different. I didn't drink I didn't smoke, my husband and I had no family history of clubfoot. To my surprise when my doctor told me Valentina had a right clubfoot I was shocked! Not me. It couldn't happen to me. Why did it happen to me? I spent 2 days crying about it until I decided to take action. My doctor ordered a cardiac fetal ultrasound to make sure there weren't any other deformities present. Sometimes clubfeet can be connected with other neurological diagnosises such as spina bifida or trisomy 13. Thankfully Valentina just had an idiopathic case. Idiopathic meaning "they don't know."
